Exhibition 1940 – 1945

The impressive exhibition “1940 – 1945” showcases objects used during World War II. For example, it displays uniforms actually worn by Dutch, German, British, American, and Canadian soldiers, as well as a uniform of a Dutch SS member and even a striped suit worn by a political prisoner in a concentration camp. Historyland also presents personal belongings and other specialized military equipment. For instance, imagine a used parachute with a drop container. The parachute was deployed during the landings near Arnhem, where soldiers came under fire. The drop container still bears bullet holes as a result. Additionally, visitors can admire identification cards and ration coupons. Historyland takes particular pride in exhibiting a thank-you letter from Queen Wilhelmina to a member of the local armed forces.
