These marine mammals can reach an enormous length of up to 30 meters and primarily feed on small crustaceans. They filter these from seawater by taking water into their mouths and then pushing it out through the baleen plates. The crustaceans are trapped in the baleen and then swallowed. The blue whale gets its name from the fin on its back and the blue coloration of this giant. This species is critically endangered.
